Graffiti Vandals Are Taunting Detroit Police

On Chene St. off Mack Ave. across from the police station there is a long time vacant supermarket. The building has hosted the illegal work of graffiti vandals for years. The city has covered the paint-based vandalism on at least 3 occasions. A question becomes if you can’t stop graffiti vandalism within 300 feet of an open police station what should average citizens be doing.

The suspects were arrested on Aug. 14 just after 3 p.m. when police responded to a complaint of men spray-painting the abandoned Murdock’s Tire Doctor at the corner of Livernois and Burlingame. Each man now faces a felony charge of malicious destruction of property over $1,000. A sixth suspect is being sought. Craig noted Monday that three of the five suspects are not Detroit residents.
