An Anti-Tagging Duplication Ordinance?

This ordinance would call for responsibility and restitution for removal and damages related to an individual placing a duplicate tag similar to another illegal tag deemed to be placed without permission, this ordinance would impose on the individual tagger the responsibility and restitution cost for removal of the original and duplicate tags.

Detroit News Reports that Gabriela June Gibson, 27, of Detroit, was accused in 2016 of vandalizing a building with graffiti, but a lack of evidence caused the case to be dismissed. New charges were filed this month after investigators received photos from a concerned resident, according to the news release.Gibson is accused of participating in the vandalism and driving the getaway car with co-defendants Nathan Koorhan, of Detroit pictured below, and Craig Kowalski, of Ira.  The photos show the license plate of the getaway car as registered to Gibson's mother, according to the news release. Court records show the graffiti incident was Jan. 25, 2016 in the area of the West Village neighborhood on Detroit's east side.

Seven charged after The Bean in Millennium Park defaced with graffiti By CHICAGO TRIBUNE STAFF | CHICAGO TRIBUNE | JUL 04, 2019 | 8:14 AM Rey Ortega, left, and Tino Guzman, both 20-years old, are charged with vandalizing The Bean in Millennium Park. (Chicago Police Department) Seven people have been charged after graffiti was scrawled on The Bean in Millennium Park and the cancer survivor wall in Maggie Daley Park earlier this week. Two of the suspects, Tino Guzman, 20, and Rey Ortega, 20, were charged with felonies after security guards at the park identified them as the ones who defaced The Bean shortly before midnight Monday. Silvery white markings were drawn on two sides of the iconic stainless steel sculpture. They were both charged with criminal damage to property and were to appear in bond court later Thursday. Four of the others were charged with just criminal trespass to state land, though security told police they were among the group who tagged The Bean as well

Graffiti Vandals Are Taunting Detroit Police

On Chene St. off Mack Ave. across from the police station there is a long time vacant supermarket. The building has hosted the illegal work of graffiti vandals for years. The city has covered the paint-based vandalism on at least 3 occasions. A question becomes if you can’t stop graffiti vandalism within 300 feet of an open police station what should average citizens be doing.
